Introduction and gameplay of Splendor

Splendor is a highly strategic board/card game, usually suitable for 2-4 players. The game is set in a fictional medieval kingdom. Players play as noble families, accumulating influence and resources by recruiting noble members, obtaining privileges, and interacting with other players, and finally winning the game by obtaining victory points. The winning rule of the game is that the player who first reaches 15 reputation points wins.

Game components:

In Splendor, the game components are as follows:

1. 40 tokens of different gem colors: emerald, sapphire, ruby, diamond, agate and gold.

2. 90 development cards divided into three levels

(1.) Level 1 cards (40 cards): Level 1 cards are the easiest to obtain and have lower point values and requirements. They usually require fewer gems and rewards.

(2.) Level 2 cards (30 cards): Level 2 cards are of medium difficulty to obtain, and have slightly higher point values and requirements than Level 1 cards.

(3.) Level 3 Cards (20 cards): Level 3 cards are the most difficult to obtain, but they also have the highest points and rewards. Usually, a combination of multiple gem types and rewards is required to obtain them.

3. 10 Noble Cards: Players can obtain multiple Noble Cards if they meet the requirements of different Noble Cards in the game. Noble Cards are an important source of prestige points, helping players reach the 15-point threshold required to trigger the end of the game.

Game rules:

Splendor uses a turn-based system, and players can choose one of the following four actions during a turn:

1. Take three gem markers of different colors

2. Take two gem markers of the same color (if at least four markers are available)

3. Keep a development card and take a gold coin

4. Or buy a face-up development card from the middle of the table or a previously reserved card

Restrictions: The number of markers a player can keep can only be up to ten, otherwise the extra markers need to be returned.

When a player reaches 15 prestige points, the game ends. Players complete the current round to ensure that each player has the same number of rounds. The player with the most prestige points at the end of the game wins. In the event of a tie, the player who purchased the fewest development cards wins.
