Nanny-level Concordia game strategy

Concordia is a highly acclaimed strategy board game designed by Mac Gerdts and first released in 2013. The game combines card management, resource collection and economic expansion mechanisms. The theme is set in ancient Rome. Players play the role of merchant families in the Roman Empire, expanding their trade network, establishing colonies and competing for glory along the Mediterranean coast.

Game Mechanics:

1. Action driven by hand cards:

Each player starts with the same action card, and can only play one per round to perform corresponding operations (such as moving, building a city, trading, copying others, etc.).

2. Expansion and construction:

Players send colonists to build cities on the map, and the type of city determines the resources that can be produced.

3. Resource management and trading:

The resources in the game include food, bricks, tools, cloth and wine. Players need to carefully arrange the timing and method of obtaining and using resources.

4. God card scoring system:

The game does not have a traditional "score track", but scores through the corresponding goals of different "gods" (such as Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, etc.), such as who owns more cities, who develops better in specific commodities, etc.

Why is this game so popular?

No dice pure strategy: all results are determined by the player's decision, and there is almost no luck factor.

High replayability: diverse maps, variable starting strategies, and rich expansion.

The hand card mechanism is exquisitely designed: playing cards in each round is very critical and requires long-term planning.

Victory strategy

1. Opening strategy (1~3 rounds)

Goal: Build a resource base and expand colonists

Priority goal: Find a city with diverse resources to build a house, especially cloth, wine, and tools.

Don't focus on one province, move more, and build cities across provinces to help score later (Saturn God).

Get the second colonist (land or sea) early, and the action power will double!

Suggested action sequence:

Architect (move and build cities) Prefect (produce resources) Mercator (trade) Tribune (recycling)

2. Mid-term strategy (rounds 4-8)

Goal: get more cards, continue to build cities, and expand

Go to the market to buy god cards that are beneficial to your scoring strategy. Don't buy them randomly.

Pay attention to what your opponent is buying. If someone is frantically laying out fabric cities, they may be focusing on Minerva.

Don't forget to take advantage of others' opportunities to produce resources (you will also benefit from others using Prefect)

Suggested order of priority purchase of cards:

If you want to go wide: buy Saturn, Mercurius

If you want to go fine: buy Minerva (for resources)

If you want to spread out: buy Mars and train colonists

3. Late-stage strategy (near the end of the game)

Goal: maximize score, focus on completing a certain god combination

Calculate which god you currently have a high score for, and focus on buying that type of card.

Don't be too slow, others may quickly buy the last card or play "Consul" to end the game.

Tribune should be arranged well, so as not to be unable to do anything at the critical moment.

Summary of key skills

1. Build more "high-value cities":

Cities like cloth, wine, and tools are sources of high scores. Each Minerva in the cloth city can give you 3 points!

2. Build in scattered places, don't gather in one province:

Saturn God gives 1 point to each province, more provinces = more points.

3. The cards are not about quantity, but "fine":

Each god card is a "multiple" of your score in a certain item. Buy in a concentrated direction for a stronger effect.

4. Don't forget the colonist score:

Each colonist (no matter where) = 2 points, Mars God scores very directly.

5. Time control:

Pay attention to when others are about to buy cards or the game is about to end, you must ensure that there is a burst round or rush to grab key cards!
