Tips for winning in Splendor

Splendor is a game full of strategies. Players need to use resources reasonably, choose the right cards, and pay attention to the actions of other players. The goal of the game is to accumulate 15 points as quickly as possible. Here are some tips to help you win:

1. Noble Card Strategy

2-player game: Noble cards are almost a must when two people are playing against each other. Because there is less competition in a two-player game, there are relatively more opportunities for Noble Cards. You can get Noble Cards by accumulating eligible low-scoring cards, thereby gaining extra victory points.

4-player game: In a four-player game, Noble Cards are not that important. Because more players are competing, it will become more difficult to obtain Noble Cards, and other more favorable strategies may be missed.

3-player game: A 3-player game is between the two. The chances of Noble Cards are slightly less, but you can try if there is a suitable opportunity.

2. Strategy for choosing cards at the beginning of the game

Some gems in the game are relatively low in value, such as blue and green gems, which are usually easier to obtain; while white gems are relatively independent and more difficult to obtain. At the beginning of the game, you can choose cards that provide more low-cost gems, especially combinations of blue and green gems. This will lay the foundation for recruiting high-scoring cards later.

In a 2-player or 3-player situation, it is usually wise to choose low-scoring cards because they are cheap and can help you accumulate more gems later, laying the foundation.

Note: Choose low-scoring cards that can bring you long-term benefits. For example, if you can use certain gem combinations repeatedly, this can bring you more rounds of advantage.

3. Make sure you get the cards you need

Don't expect your opponent to make mistakes. When you have a clear goal, you must suppress low-scoring cards or high-scoring cards, and don't wait for your opponent's mistakes to give you opportunities. Just make sure you can get the cards that are crucial to you, so that you can take the lead in the later stages.

4. Management and control of resources

In the game, gems are very critical resources. As long as you have gems in your hand, you can limit your opponent's actions. Especially when there are no particularly urgent cards on the field, don't let gems slip away easily. By exchanging flip cards (i.e. changing the gem cards in your hand), you may inadvertently help your opponent provide the resources they need.

In the early and middle stages of the game, if you don't lose turns, try to keep the gems in your hand. This will not only help you recruit cards, but also hinder your opponent's progress.

5. Observe your opponent's strategy

Pay attention to which high-scoring cards of level 2 or 3 your opponent is going to take. If they are eager to get high-scoring cards but don't have enough gems, they may choose low-scoring cards or blindly exchange for gold cards (used to replenish certain gems). At this time, you can buy yourself more time by slightly controlling the rounds, or even delay your opponent with a few unimportant rounds of actions.

6. The tense moment in the late game

Once a player's score exceeds 8 points, the game enters the late game. At this time, you need to strictly calculate the number of rounds left and predict the number of rounds required for you and your opponent to complete 15 points. You need to know in advance who can get 15 points faster under your own and your opponent's rhythm, and make decisions in advance. If you are faster than your opponent, try to increase your speed and strive to reach 15 points in the next round; if you are at a disadvantage, you can try to block your opponent, reduce his progress and control the situation.
